Seoltar Wainfest 2025 i bPáirc Náisiúnta Ghleann Bheatha

Seoladh Wainfest, féile bhliantúil ealaíon agus leabhar do leanaí Dhún na nGall a bhfuil an-tóir uirthi, go hoifigiúil inniu i bPáirc Náisiúnta Ghleann Bheatha leis an téama spreagúil  “Do Ghlór, Do Rogha”.  Cuireann téama na bliana seo peirspictíochtaí leanaí i gcroílár na féile, rud a chuireann ar a gcumas a gcuid smaointe, tuairimí agus cruthaitheachta a roinnt i dtimpeallacht thacúil spreagúil.

Beidh an fhéile ar siúl ón 4-12 Deireadh Fómhair, agus geallann Wainfest 2025 a bheith ina cheiliúradh bríomhar ar chruthaitheacht, ar shamhlaíocht, agus ar an tábhacht a bhaineann le héisteacht le guthanna óga. Beidh os cionn 100 imeacht saor in aisce ar siúl ar fud Dhún na nGall do scoileanna agus do theaghlaigh, chomh maith le clár ar líne, tá rud éigin ann ar féidir le gach duine taitneamh a bhaint as.

Anois ina 29ú bliain, tá Wainfest anois mar bhunchloch den saol cultúrtha sa chontae, ag tabhairt deis do leanaí dul i ngleic le scéalta, ceol, amharclannaíocht, ealaín, damhsa agus go leor ceardlanna idirghníomhacha.

Ag labhairt di ag an seoladh, mhol an Leabharlannaí Feidhmiúcháin, Sinéad McLaughlin, téama fhéile na bliana seo, agus dúirt sí: “Is éard a bhí i gceist le Wainfest i gcónaí samhlaíocht a spreagadh agus spás a thabhairt do dhaoine óga páirt a ghlacadh. I mbliana, in éineacht le  ‘Do Ghlór, Do Rogha’, táimid ag tabhairt an tiomantais sin céim amháin eile chun cinn, ag cinntiú go bhfuil a fhios ag leanaí caidé is ábhar do ghuthanna ann, rud a ligeann dóibh a smaointe s’acu a roinnt, iad féin a chur in iúl gan bhac agus mothú go gcluintear iad.

Lean sí uirthi ag aithint obair Sheirbhís Leabharlainne Chontae Dhún na nGall chun seirbhís saor in aisce agus inrochtana a chur ar fáil d’achan duine, ag cur béime ar an méid seo a leanas: ‘Cuireann Leabharlanna eolas, rochtain ar an idirlíon agus siamsaíocht ar fáil tríd an iliomad leabhar agus cláir éagsúla, chomh maith le  acmhainní eile gan áireamh a bheadh doiligh a aimsiú nó íoc astu.’

I measc bhuaicphointí Wainfest na bliana seo beidh:
Scéalaíocht agus Imeachtaí Údar – Cuid de na scríbhneoirí agus de na maisitheoirí is mó a bhfuil meas orthu in Éirinn a thabhairt leo chun bualadh lena léitheoirí óga. Ceardlanna Cruthaitheacha – Na huirlisí a thabhairt do leanaí chun iad a bheith in ann dul i ngleic  lena  gcuid scéalta, guthanna agus buanna ealaíne féin. Taibhithe Beo – Ó dhamhsa go ceol, chun lucht féachana óg a spreagadh le cruthaitheacht i ngníomh. Imeachtaí fóirsteanach don Teaghlach – Gníomhaíochtaí atá deartha chun leanaí, tuismitheoirí agus pobail a thabhairt le chéile. Tar éis an tseolta, fuair scoileanna cóip leictreonach den bhróisiúr agus is féidir le teaghlaigh amharc ar chlár iomlán na n-imeachtaí atá beartaithe trí bhróisiúr a phiocadh suas ina leabharlann áitiúil nó ina n-ionad cultúrtha. Tá an clár ar fáil chomh maith ar ár suíomh gréasáin www.wainfest.ie

Wainfest 2025 Launches at Glenveagh National Park

Wainfest, Donegal’s much-loved annual children’s arts and book festival, was officially launched today at the iconic Glenveagh National Park with the inspiring theme “Your Voice, Your Choice.”  This year’s theme places children’s perspectives at the heart of the festival, empowering them to share their ideas, opinions, and creativity in a supportive and inspiring environment.
Running from 4th- 12th October, Wainfest 2025 promises to be a vibrant celebration of creativity, imagination, and the importance of listening to young voices. With over 100 free events taking place across Donegal for schools and families, as well as an online programme, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Now in its 29th year, Wainfest has become a cornerstone of cultural life in the county, offering children the chance to engage with stories, music, theatre, art, dance, and numerous interactive workshops.

Speaking at the launch, Executive Librarian, Sinéad McLaughlin endorsed the theme of this year’s festival stating that “Wainfest has always been about sparking imagination and giving young people the space to participate. This year, with Your Voice, Your Choice, we are taking that commitment one step further, ensuring that children know their voices matter allowing them to share their ideas, express themselves freely and feel heard.

She went on to acknowledge the work of Donegal County Library Service in providing a free and accessible service for all, highlighting that ‘Libraries offer knowledge, access to the internet, entertainment through the vast array of books and diverse programmes, and countless other resources that would otherwise be difficult to find or afford.’

Highlights of this year’s Wainfest will include:
Storytelling and Author Events – Bringing some of Ireland’s best-loved writers and illustrators to meet their young readers. Creative Workshops – Giving children the tools to explore their own stories, voices, and artistic talents. Live Performances – From dance to music, inspiring young audiences with creativity in action. Family-Friendly Events – Activities designed to bring children, parents, and communities together. Following the launch, schools received an electronic copy of the brochure and families can view the full programme of events planned by picking up a brochure in their local library or cultural venue. The programme is also available on our website www.wainfest.ie
